The first Splatoon title ever made by Nintendo was launched for the Wii U back in 2015. The company created and released Splatoon 2 two years later, this time for the company’s latest console, the Nintendo Switch. Since then, the action-packed series seems to have gained a loyal player base, prompting Nintendo to develop the prequel’s expansion pack and paid DLC, Octo Expansion. The company seems to show no signs of stopping its expansion of the Splatoon series, especially since Splatoon 3 is being released only five years after Splatoon 2.

The pre-order listings have shown up for both US and UK regions. Avid fans of the Splatoon series can already pre-purchase the video game, even though they do not know when they will actually receive the copy. All the revealed details about Splatoon 3 indicates it has similar gameplay features to Splatoon 2. However, given the amount of development time in between the two titles, Nintendo has likely optimized Splatoon 3 visually and technologically to perform better than its predecessor.
With summer just around the corner, the release date of Splatoon 3 will likely be announced very soon. Fans are likely waiting for Nintendo to provide more in-depth details about the title, especially what makes it unique from Splatoon 2. Hopefully new features and added aspects will make it appealing enough for old and new players to purchase the video game on launch.
Splatoon 3 is slated for release this Summer 2022.
