The returning Mayo vs. Ketchup Splatfest, which began at 3:00 p.m. PT today, first occurred in August 2017. For the Splatfest newcomers, players can choose a team — Inkling Pearl representing mayonnaise and Octoling Marina representing ketchup — and battle in turf wars to see which side wins the most matches.

Splatfests were a huge draw in Splatoon and its sequel, as the events changed the aesthetic of the world and featured unique maps and gear like team shirts. The first run at Mayo vs. Ketchup in Splatoon 2 resulted in team Mayo winning the most matches despite Ketchup having more players in North America and Europe.
Despite this Splatfest revival running until the end of the weekend, the multiplayer shooter has just about hit the end of its life. However, Splatoon 2 has been an incredibly popular game for the Switch, having sold over 10 million copies as of an announcement made earlier this month.
