Available in three colors, the Spigen Slim Armor CS is surprisingly stylish despite its functionality. It’s been crafted with dual layers for added protection and features Air Cushion Technology, which essentially means the corners of your iPhone 12 Pro Max will be cushioned in case you drop your phone or it falls out of your bag or pocket.

The raised edges around the camera are certainly a welcome feature; if you drop your phone on its back on a flat surface, your phone’s cameras won’t be damaged, yet they’re still fully functional.

The Spigen Slim Armor CS designed for iPhone 12 Pro Max has a hidden card slot that slides seamlessly open to reveal a place for you to store two cards.

It’s super convenient, but is it a gimmick?

The Hidden Compartment

The exterior card slot definitely steals the show on the Spigen Slim Armor CS case. It’s a nifty contraption that makes it easy to travel light, taking your phone and a few essential belongings with you.

It opens easily with little force, but as expected from such a slimline door, it definitely feels flimsy. With a bit of effort, you could easily snap it off, or if you forgot to close it, it could easily break.

But, once the cards are in there, there’s nothing particularly fragile about this case. However, when installing the case, it’s worth being mindful that it’s easy to detach the hard outer layer from the TPU interior, making it a bit tricky to get everything to snap together.

Designed to Be Different

Protective phone cases often give the impression of being bulky, but the Spigen Slim Armor CS case adds only 0.15 inches of thickness when placed on your iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The raised edges ensure your camera lenses don’t touch the surface if you place your phone down, and won’t get scratched as easily in your bag.

Pressing the side buttons, the case doesn’t negatively affect the responsiveness, and the cutouts are carefully designed to ensure you can still access the Ring/Silent switch, as well as the Lightning port.

The Air Cushion Technology around the corner bumpers are definitely needed, and something you should look for in a phone case if you’re prone to dropping your iPhone. It’s also much easier to get a snug fit compared to other iPhone 12 Pro Max cases.

And, if you like choice, there are three colors to choose from, including Black, Metal Slate, and Rose Gold, all sporting the same subtle shimmer on the polycarbonate exterior.

A Few Flaws

While the Spigen Slim Armor CS iPhone 12 Pro Max case wins some points for innovation, it does lack in a few key areas that might make it unsuitable depending on your requirements.

The shiny polycarbonate exterior is undoubtedly tough, but it does attract fingerprint marks far too easily. If you have children or you pick up your phone regularly, you’re going to notice these nuisance blemishes.

It also isn’t officially compatible with wireless chargers, so if you plan to use your favorite MagSafe accessories, you’ll need to remove the case (and your cards) so as not to cause any interference or damage.

Style and Substance

Although there are a few things that could be changed about the Spigen Slim Armor CS case, in its low price range, it’s hard to criticize it too harshly.

It’s a convenient, protective case that’s lightweight and affordable, with a choice of three colors and a unique design.
