Recently, Tom Holland revealed that one of the moves his version of Spidey pulls off in the film is directly inspired by Marvel’s Spider-Man. While there is plenty of action on display in the hero’s latest outing, and fans will surely be searching for any moves that look like animations from the game, one specific maneuver seems to fit the bill. Alongside this, a very specific reference to the video game version of Aunt May seems to be included, something that hardcore fans will surely appreciate. Obviously, fans should be warned that major spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home will be seen below.

The No Way Home Move Inspired By Marvel’s Spider-Man
Marvel’s Spider-Man fans should notice a lot of similar movements in the movie, which comes with the territory since the same character that is being adapted. However, the final fight with Green Goblin seems to be the area where gamers should be looking to see the move Tom Holland mentioned. While it is not a perfect copy, and it may be revealed at some point that it was actually a different video game move that was featured in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the moment where Peter flips over Goblin’s head could be just what Tom Holland was referring to.
At the 55 second mark of ScereBro PSNU’s video, which can be seen above, Spider-Man leaps over the head of a Fisk thug before slamming him into the ground. The thug then lands awkwardly on their neck while Spidey lands smoothly. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Green Goblin lands the exact same way before an enraged Peter Parker begins to beat him down. The flip is very similar as well, with the only difference being that Spidey himself slams Goblin in the movie but uses webs to slam the Fisk thug in the game. With the overall moves being so similar, though, this might just be the easter egg that Holland was referencing.
With so many cool takedowns in the game, and more likely to come when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases, hopefully future movies continue to take inspiration from Insomniac’s work when it comes to their fight scenes.
The Aunt May Quote No Way Home Pulls From Marvel’s Spider-Man
Marvel’s Spider-Man is full of memorable moments, ranging from the devastating final battle with Doctor Octopus to the last heartbreaking conversation between Peter Parker and Aunt May. Just like in Marvel’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Peter losing his motherly figure. While the two have very different deaths, both teach Peter a lesson about helping people, pushing the idea that an attempt should always be made to save someone.
Though the latest on-screen portrayal of Aunt May delivers the MCU’s version of the iconic “with great power, comes great responsibility” line, the video game version of May provides Peter with some equally brilliant advice. In a conversation with Martin Li, which is shown around two minutes into the above video from Astewir, Peter and Martin quote Aunt May by saying “if you help someone, you help everyone.” This memorable line is paraphrased in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with “when you help someone, you help everyone” appearing on May’s grave at the very end of the film.
The use of this dialogue shows the level of care put into the latest Spider-Man movie, with producer Kevin Feige and director Jon Watts showing their love for every version of the friendly neighborhood hero.
