This is hardly the first post like this on the Marvel’s Spider-Man subreddit. Recently, fans discussed the potential of a random disasters feature in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that expands on random crimes, while a few months back gamers debated over the MJ stealth missions and whether they should return. Potential improvements to traversal and combat have been discussed, as has the topic of suit customization. While it remains to be seen if Insomniac will take any of this feedback into consideration, fans are continuing to share their opinions online.

A Reddit thread started by Kiiidou asked the Marvel’s Spider-Man community what aspect of the original game they want to see improved for the sequel, and some interesting replies can be seen in the comments. For instance, Darth-Caesus wants to see the stealth system improved. While they praise the takedowns and being fun, and were happy that Spider-Man: Miles Morales added wall takedowns, they want to see better AI that scans walls and ceilings regularly. They also want to see new takedown options from vents and sewers.
Another commenter named norkelman suggested some movement improvements for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. While most would agree that the webslinging in the original game is stellar, there is always room for improvement. According to this player, they want more interaction with New York City, wanting the freedom to zip through cars and touch the ground with Spidey’s hand. They would like a fast crawl option when on walls, pushing for more animations and wall combat in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as well.
The Redditors known as TheMightyMonarchx7 and kaijuking87 each listed a few improvements, but both pushed for the inclusion of challenging new enemies like the Spider Slayers. If these players had their wish, the Spider Slayers would seemingly function like God of War’s Valkyries, with players eventually battling Alistair Smythe once all were dealt with. With players wanting to see more boss fights in the sequel, this could be a fun way for Insomniac to make that happen, as it would allow the developer to reuse assets but make numerous fights that feel different. With plenty of other intriguing suggestions, the thread is worth a look for Spidey fans.
With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 still in development and not launching until 2023, perhaps some of these suggestions could be worked into the game before release. If any of these additions are made, the game would benefit greatly, allowing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to outdo its predecessor.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release on PS5 in 2023.
