RELATED: The Best Spider-Man Games Ever Made (According To Metacritic)
From the worst to best, here are all of the Spider-Man suits ranked. As there are multiple suits in some films, they will be judged accordingly within their sections.
Updated October 12, 2021 by Joseph Heindl: It’s no secret that Spider-Man is a popular superhero. In fact, he’s had one of the most lucrative onscreen careers of any costumed crime-fighter. Marvel’s masked arachnid has appeared in countless TV shows, video games, and, of course, movies. The Spider-Man films have been going since 2002, yielding eight entries with a ninth on the way. As the creative teams change, however, so does this approach to the web-head’s mythos. Nothing illustrates this better than the costume. Each actor playing Peter Parker has donned a different version of the Spider-Man suit. Some of them even wear multiple ones over their tenure. Sadly, not all of these have been winners. The best results tend to balance loyalty to the comics’ design with what works on film.
11 Television Films Suit
Before Spider-Man was well-recognized on the big screen, the character made his technical first appearance in the medium through television. The suits were worn by Nicholas Hammond who portrayed the character in television around 1977.

The suits worn by the character had the general design from the comics done correctly. However, certain elements such as the lenses, gloves, and boots have not aged well. The outfit does not look nearly as good as the modern interpretations that came afterward.
10 The Amazing Spider-Man Suit
When the Spider-Man franchise was first rebooted, there were many bold changes were established. One was having Peter’s first love, Gwen Stacy, be the main focal point. Another was the unique design of the classic suit, which had become popular with fans.
Although The Amazing Spider-Manshould be commended for doing something far different to what the character was familiar with, the suit just doesn’t hold the wow factor that many other outfits from before or after have. The darkened color scheme and basketball texture make this suit seem cheap, and not in an endearing, homemade way. Ugliest of all are the eyes, which are narrowed and recolor to more resemble a bug’s. Perhaps this is a nod to his arachnid namesake, ut it makes him look less like Spider-Man and more like the Beetle from Marvel’s Ultimate comics. The suit’s solitary appearance in one film also solidified it as not being especially striking.
9 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit
For such a haphazard movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 boasts the biggest improvement in costume. This suit shows the development of Andrew Garfield’s character. The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s suit is incredibly well-made with big eyes and a comic accurate design, arguably more so than Sam Raimi’s interpretation. The red and blue are crisp and vibrant, echoing the colorful comics instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

However, there are a few things that hold it back. One is the color of the suit, which is far duller than the outfits that came before and after this interpretation. The other is the spider logo that has bottom legs that are far longer than others, making it seem a little uneven. Finally, the eyes are a bit too big and rounded, making the hero seem like he’s either constantly surprised or lacking personality altogether.
8 Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame Suit
Ever since Spider-Man’s appearance in Captain America: Civil War, fans have been excited to see what Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was gonna go through next. When Infinity War and later Endgame hit the movie theatres, people were not only receiving more Spider-Man, they would be also getting an absolutely fantastic suit.
Originally only teased in Homecoming, the Iron Spider suit is an incredibly well-made iron suit that helped mix the classic with the new. The only reason why it isn’t higher on the list is due to it not being as iconic as some other variants. The outfit is simply too busy for the Friendly Neighborhood underdog. The mess of colors and mechanical parts are a visual nightmare, and the glowing eyes belong on an action figure instead. Worst of all, noneo f it looking the least bit convincing because of the overabundance of CGI.
7 Spider-Man: Far From Home Main Suit
Toward the end of this sequel, Peter Parker uses Tony Stark’s tech to make a new Spidey suit to save Jolly Old England. The irony is that this new one seems like a step-down.
The red and black aesthetic is supposed to be a reference to Steve Ditko’s original design back when Spider-Man was first introduced to the world.
Sadly, the black contrast wildly with the bright red spots, leading to a look unsure of where it wants to be. Is this supposed to portray an eager innocence or a mean cynicism?
6 Spider-Man: Homecoming Handmade Suit
Once Peter loses the fancy tech suit that Tony Stark gave him, he dons this number to stop the Vulture. It’s shoddy to say the least, like a handcrafted work by a teenager. That’s because it’s supposed to.
This outfit nails the homemade look, as if it was patched together by a kid with limited resources. What’s more is that it accomplishes such a feat while maintaing the Spider-Man identity. Audiences can see how this first draft led to the finished product they all know and love. From this perspective, it has a humble charm that Peter’s other MCU suits lack.
5 Spider-Man: Homecoming Main Suit
Originally introduced during Captain America: Civil War, this outfit helped solidify Spider-Man’s place in Marvel Studios. It really does look like the classic suit from the comics brought to life in film. The color scheme and shape of the eyes look like they leaped from the page. The underarm webs are also a nice touch that most other suits have unfortunately left out. It also includes the modern design philosophy that Marvel Studios are known for.
The glaring problem is the CGI. Because the filmmakers used motion capture on top of the physical costume, Spider-Man himself lacks texture and tangibility. By extension, the mechanized eye movements seem unnecessary. They’re meant to emulate how expressive he is in the illustrations, but Deadpoolalso strove for this and achieved a more convincing result.
4 Spider-Man: Far From Home “Night Monkey” Suit
During his England exploits, Pete wants to fight crime without eing recognized as Spider-MAn. The resulting stealth suit is heavily inspired by the suits worn by Spider-Man Noir, but his classmates dub him “Night Monkey.”
The filmmakers could have gone all the way with the more rounded eyes, but it’s still a refreshing change of pace. The suit seems practical without being cluttered like a tactical uniform could potentially get. More importantly, it helps illustrate the development of Peter Parker and how he is slowly becoming his own type of superhero with his own legacy.
3 Into The Spider-Verse Suits
The animated outing Into the Spider-Verse outfit brings some of the best Spidey suits. For Peter Parker, the costume is unbelievably classic, harkening back to classic works like Todd McFarlane and John Romita Sr.’s work on the character.

The art style allowed for the suits of the other Spider-Men to come to life. Miles Morales’s suit shines especially. His comic costume always seemed lazy. It’s just a palette swap of the regular web-head’s suit. The spray paint and hoodie here, though, make his outfit more uniquely his own and goes well with the established framework. The Miles Morales gamewould do well to add such a stylish addition to its costume collection.
2 Spider-Man 3 Black Suit
The big-screen debut of Spider-Man’s iconic black suit was essentially a palette-swapped version of his regular one. This time, though, it’s appropriate. The textures and details remain the same; they’re just repainted in monochrome. That may disappoint hardcore fans of the comics’ more streamlined suit, but it’s hard to deny how sleek this interpretation looks.
The base design already worked, but the new paint job truly illustrates the power of color. The wall-crawler appears infinitely more foreboding, and he doesn’t have to change a thing about his suit’s core layout. Black really does go great with anything.
1 Spider-Man Trilogy Suit
When Spider-Man was first shown in theatres back in the early 2000s, he caused a storm that created a trilogy of some of the best superhero films ever made. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man also helped establish comic book movies as mainstream blockbusters, building on the success of X-Men.
The costumes worn by Tobey Maguire are nothing short of legendary. Although one of the earliest versions seen in a film, everything was designed in a way to make this take of the character incredibly recognizable. The bright, familiar colors are present yet somehow slicker than ever. The eyes are similarly striking without being too mean. All in all, it’s the perfect balance all around. They kept it for three movies, and it’s continued to endure in fans’ memories. Why else would there be an outcry to include it in the 2018 game? You don’t get that kind of following for a failure.
