Speedrunner Defeats All Bloodborne Bosses In Less Than An Hour

Uploading a video to YouTube a couple of days ago, user Ahady has managed to get through all the boss sections of Bloodborne in less than one hour, with the timer being stopped at 58:45. The runner says in the video’s description that this represents the first time they’ve managed to achieve a time of less than 60 minutes. Like all good speedruns, this one involves a lot of precise maneuverability and, unsurprisingly, a lot of speed to get through all the game’s bosses in record time.

It seems as though one thing that assisted Ahady in setting a new world record was exploiting a recently discovered glitch. The bug involves Bloodborne’s Cannon weapon which is found in the Forbidden Woods. The glitch allows the runner to “cheese” the weapon reload animation and makes it so the Cannon doesn’t consume ammo. This does require an element of precision, but the fact that it’s now been discovered suggests that other players may attempt to beat this new record.

Speedrunning is a fascinating feat of gaming skill, which takes hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of play and a near-obsessive and dedicated community that is always challenging itself and sharing new knowledge so that others can attempt their own runs. While Bloodborne is one of the hardest games to speedrun, the fact that it is so difficult is perhaps one of its appeals to speedrunners. It’s certainly not one for the faint-hearted, but Ahady’s video could provide instruction for those who wish to have a go themselves.

Although a few years old at this point, FromSoftware’s PS4 title still has a lease of life, especially with runners now finishing the game in record time. Not only that, but a fan-made Bloodborne PS1-style demake is due out soon, which gives it a look that’s reminiscent of the 1997 PlayStation game Nightmare Creatures, which the former game was almost certainly influenced by.
