Since ink makes the ground an even more valuable resource, Splatoon’s stages matter even more than those of other shooters. Across the three games in the series, many stages have come and gone, but Splatoon 3 includes a great balance of old and new turf to ink. It’s hard to find a Splatoon map that isn’t fun to play on, but through their aesthetics and interesting layouts, some stages rise above the rest....

While everyone is eager to see more of the story, hub, and multiplayer, the last Nintendo Direct instead revealed Splatoon 2’s Salmon Run mode would be returning as Salmon Run: Next Wave. Salmon Run is a PvE mode focusing on a team of players repelling waves of Salmonids, and Splatoon 3’s take on it looks to improve in every way. The ability to pass point-granting eggs between players has been added, and the eggs can even be thrown directly into the goal basket....

Salmon Run is a horde-type mode that has players fighting against Salmonids to collect golden eggs across at least three rounds. The primary enemies encountered are lesser Salmonids which travel in packs and use melee attacks, but acquiring golden eggs requires players to fight Splatoon 3’s Salmon Run bosses that use their own special abilities. These eggs must then be collected and deposited into a basket before time runs out....

In addition to quality of life features like Squid Rush and Squid Surge, the limited time events called Splatfest have also been tweaked. Taking place every so often, Splatfests allow players to pick a side and participate in matches to earn points for their team. While Open and Pro modes return, Splatoon 3 adds a special mode called Tricolor Turf War which pits all three teams against one another to see which team can cover the most areas of the stage in their color....

Understandably, that film’s poor performance also caused a cloud of doubt to form over the upcoming Splinter Cell movie adaptation, however, producer Basil Iwanyk is convinced that it will do much better.
